How Moderation Works
Terms Privacy Community Standards Support

Last updated: March 2025

TagTalk moderates content to keep the platform safe and focused on language learning. Here's a plain-language explanation of how it works.

Automated Safety Filters

Every message sent through TagTalk's AI chat system is processed through real-time safety classifiers before a response is generated. These filters are designed to:

  • Prevent the AI from generating harmful, offensive, or off-topic content
  • Block attempts to "jailbreak" or manipulate the virtual instructors
  • Detect and reject inputs that attempt to generate illegal content, including CSAM

When a message is flagged, the AI will decline to respond to the harmful portion and may redirect the conversation back to Tagalog learning. Repeated flagging of an account triggers a human review.

User Reporting

If you encounter content or behavior that violates our Community Standards, you can report it directly to our team:

  • Email support@tagtalk.ph with a description of the issue
  • For urgent child safety concerns, see our Child Safety Policy

All reports are reviewed by a human. We aim to respond to reports within 48 hours for general issues and within 24 hours for safety-critical reports.

What Happens After a Report

  1. Intake: We log the report and acknowledge receipt.
  2. Review: A team member reviews the flagged content and the account's history.
  3. Decision: We determine whether the content violates our standards and what action is appropriate.
  4. Action: We take one of the actions described below and notify the affected user if appropriate.

Account Actions

Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, we may take the following actions:

  • Warning: A first-time or minor violation may result in a written warning explaining what was wrong and what's expected.
  • Content removal: Specific saved phrases, deck names, or other content may be removed without an account-level action.
  • Temporary restriction: Access to specific features (e.g., AI chat) may be limited for a period.
  • Account suspension: Serious or repeated violations may result in a temporary account suspension.
  • Permanent ban: The most severe violations — including CSAM, serious harassment, or repeated abuse — result in permanent account termination. Banned users may not create new accounts.

Appeals

If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you can appeal by emailing support@tagtalk.ph with the subject line "Moderation Appeal". Please include:

  • Your account email address
  • A description of the action taken
  • Why you believe the action was incorrect

We review all appeals and respond within 5 business days. Appeals related to CSAM or child safety violations are not eligible for reversal.

TagTalk's moderation exists to protect the learning environment — not to be heavy-handed. We aim to be fair and proportionate, and we take wrongful actions seriously. If you think we got something wrong, please tell us.
